In private, Moiraine and the Amyrlin discuss the dangers they face. The Amyrlin reveals that Agelmar gave her the Horn of Valere, and that one of the seven seals on the Dark One's prison has been broken. She confides she can see ta'veren, and that Rand blazed like the sun. Moiraine outlines a new plan: send Rand, Mat, and Perrin to carry the Horn to Illian, where Rand can be proclaimed Dragon Reborn with a nation already behind him.

Meanwhile, Lord Captain Bornhald leads two thousand Children of the Light secretly into Tarabon, only to find the Questioners already in command.

Back in Fal Dara, Liandrin uses the One Power to intimidate Lady Amalisa into searching for the three young men. In the dungeons below, Padan Fain waits in the darkness for a visitor he did not expect.
