Chapter 18: To the White Tower
Aboard the River Queen racing down the Erinin toward Tar Valon, Egwene shares with Nynaeve her recurring troubling dreams—visions of Rand in danger and a masked man with fire for eyes who mocks her with contempt.
The Amyrlin Seat visits their cabin alone for a channeling lesson, demonstrating weaves of Air—conjuring weapons from nothing, binding them immobile, lifting Nynaeve to the ceiling—until Nynaeve's anger surges and she slams the Amyrlin against the wall; the Amyrlin retaliates by shielding Nynaeve from the True Source entirely.
On arriving in the island city of Tar Valon—its white walls gleaming, Dragonmount rising on the west bank—Egwene and Nynaeve make their own way ashore, where Sheriam, the Mistress of Novices, meets them and confirms Nynaeve will train as one of the Accepted while Egwene will be a novice.
