Chapter 52: There Is Neither Beginning Nor End

Rand wakes amid Aginor's ashes and stumbles back to find Egwene, Nynaeve, and Moiraine beneath the great oak marking the Green Man's grave. Moiraine demands his full account, and Rand tells everything—the struggle with Aginor, the sword of Light, severing Ba'alzamon's cord.

She confirms her suspicions: Rand channeled saidin to give Bela strength during their flight from Emond's Field, and he wielded the power stored in the Eye against Ba'alzamon. She cannot teach him—saidin and saidar are as different as men and women—but she says the Pattern may not be finished with him.

Lan, Loial, Mat, and Perrin return from the drained pool bearing three objects: a broken cuendillar seal—one of seven on the Dark One's prison—the Horn of Valere in a gold and silver chest, and the Dragon's banner. As the Blight begins to reclaim the Green Man's domain, Moiraine tells Rand to sleep and dream of home.
