Loial tells of a dying man who came to Stedding Shangtai during the Aiel War claiming the Dark One intended to blind the Eye of the World, and Perrin and Egwene confirm the Tuatha'an carried the same message from dying Aiel.

Rand, Mat, and Perrin finally reveal their shared dreams of Ba'alzamon to Moiraine, who confirms all three are ta'veren and warns that yielding to the Dark One even for an instant will make them his. With Trollocs massing outside Caemlyn and three independent warnings about the Eye of the World, Moiraine declares they must reach it through the Ways—ancient paths connecting Ogier groves—but Loial warns that entering the Ways means death or being swallowed by the Shadow.
