Chapter 39: Weaving of the Web

Rand tries to convince Mat to come see Logain's procession, but Mat refuses to leave their room. Master Gill warns that a half-mad beggar has been asking after them by name throughout Caemlyn.

In the streets, Rand witnesses the deep political divide as the city gathers to see the false Dragon. The beggar spots Rand and chases him through the Inner City.

After escaping, Rand climbs a high wall to watch the procession and sees Logain pass in an iron cage guarded by Aes Sedai and Warders—yet the man holds himself like a king, silencing the crowd with his gaze and laughing as the Palace swallows him. A girl's voice startles Rand and he falls from the wall.
