Chapter 37: The Long Chase

Nynaeve, Moiraine, and Lan track one of the boys north from the Caemlyn Road, following the coin Moiraine gave him. They find him held prisoner in a Whitecloak camp of two hundred men. Nynaeve slips past the guards to cut the horse picket-lines and discovers Bela—proof that Egwene is also in the camp.

Moiraine unleashes a lightning storm that shatters the night, scattering the horses. Wolves appear among the stampeding animals, and Nynaeve escapes into the darkness on Bela.
