Chapter 34: The Last Village

Rand and Mat sleep in haystacks near Carysford, where streams of travelers head to Caemlyn to see the false Dragon. Rand spots a Fade conferring with an innkeeper who is offering a bounty for two young thieves with a heron-mark sword.

Rand persuades farmer Almen Bunt to give them a ride, and Bunt talks through the night about Caemlyn, Queen Morgase, and the Aes Sedai Elaida.

Rand dreams of a Fade dragging his bound companions and wakes at dawn within sight of Caemlyn.
