Chapter 22: A Path Chosen

Perrin wakes alone on the east bank of the River Arinelle after the flight from Shadar Logoth. He tracks downriver and finds Egwene camped with Bela in a thicket, having crossed the river safely.

With no sign of the others, they debate what to do—Whitebridge is where Moiraine would look, but the Fades likely know that too. Perrin surprises them both by taking charge and proposing they head cross-country to Caemlyn instead, where no one would expect them. Egwene agrees, and they set off east, planning to wait for Moiraine in Caemlyn or continue to Tar Valon if she doesn't come.
